Vinyl Jacket Project
In this project you will choose and artist and album (real or fictional) and design the a jacket to protect the vinyl album that will go inside. I know that we don't often buy albums in physical form  anymore, but this is a good way to learn multi-page layout and practice using both the principles of design and your new art skills! Don't care for music? Well, maybe you love movies, video games, a TV show or sport. You can create an album to listen to as you practice your sport or make a soundtrack of music from your favorite aforementioned media. Have fun with your interests and run with it!

Let's talk about some of the specifics. This project must  be entirely original. In other words, you can not take photos or other materials from the web for this project. I know this could be difficult because you aren't easily going to be able to take a photo of Metallica and then use it to to make the jacket. Honestly though, many album covers don't include a photo of the artist... actually not just the cover but the whole album! You can create a cartoon drawing of the artist, make a silhouette, or just use photos or graphics that depict their music.

Included somewhere within the artwork must be the name of the artist, movie, show, or game. If you are going the route of building a mix tape then this wouldn't be necessary for you, but a description would be good. There must be an album name. There should be a logo for your artist, movie, show, or game. You will need to include a bar code on the back as well as a list of at least 10 song titles (artists too if it's a soundtrack or mixtape).
