Screen Printing - Degreasing a Screen
Once you've completed you image and emailed it to me, you'll have to see me for a screen. You'll probably see old stains in the screen from old prints that other students have made. This is not a problem, as long as it isn't clogging the pores of the screen.
Over time, ink and the green emulsion can leave a residue in the screen. If you degrease your screen, this won't be a problem. This handout explains how to degrease a screen. It's really easy. Even if you have a brand new screen, degreasing is needed to prepare the fabric. You can also find a video of the process below. |
