Practice Vector With Gravit (CHROMEBOOK VERSION)
|
Illustrator |
Vectoring can be pretty intense. It may seem like it should be easy to make a vector image because, well... computers make things easier right? They do, but that doesn't mean that creating a vector on the computer is easy. If nothing more, by the time you finish your vector, you'll have more respect for the artists that make the vector graphics for Call of Duty, Toy Story or Need for Speed!
To get started, I want everyone to practice on the same image, the Penn State logo. I have a series of videos below that will explain how to create the image. They are short and broken into several parts so that you can watch the video, go back and give it a try, and then watch how to do the next part in the next part in the next video. It's going to be a little frustrating at some points because it's something new, but don't let it get you overwhelmed! The more you vector the easier it gets. After all, there is a reason why I want everyone to start with a practice vector. Good luck! Finding the Logo on GoogleI mentioned that we will do the Penn state logo for this project. Since you are basically going to learn to chase on Illustrator, you have to have that logo to trace off of before we can do anything else. The video below will show you how to find the image using Google Image Search. Keep in mind that Google likes to randomly change the layout of their tools and page layout so what you see in the video may not be exactly like the way it functions on Google at the time your using it!

Setting up an Gravit Document & Vectoring the First Shape
This video was made to explain how to set up a file to vector in Gravit. It's not the exact same as you will see in Illustrator later on, but it's very similar.
